Field Trips

Thursday, August 28 ~ Potholes Shorebirds.   Wading shorebirds returning from Arctic nesting areas visit the muddy shores of Lind Coulee, Perch Point, and Potholes State Park in August-September to feed before continuing south.  This is becoming an annual exercise to try to distinguish among the many look-alikes.  Field scopes, guidebooks and photos help ID the sandpipers and their kin.   Please RSVP with Steve M, 509-933-1179 (leave message), or fieldtrips@kittitasaudubon.org

September 6 ~  First Saturday Birdwalk, Irene Rinehart Park.  This year 1st Saturday is the one after Labor Day weekend.  No excuses – do come!  Late summer hangers-on and maturing chicks active in the cottonwoods.   Meet at the riverside parking lot at 8 AM for our 3-4 hour walking loop around the park’s trails. Contact Steve for details, fieldtrips@kittitasaudubon.org
