First Saturday Bird Walks

Since October of 2002 KAS has offered the monthly First Saturday Bird Walk in rain, wind, snow, and sunshine. One need not know anything about birds or nature. Trip leaders and participants will provide some guidance and help with bird ID. All you need is a pair of binoculars and garb for the weather, and kids are welcome. Walking on park paths (pavement to dirt) usually takes about three hours.

Each first Saturday of the month, please join us at 8:00 AM at the parking lot to Irene Rinehart Riverfront Park (Ellensburg), located on Umptanum Road where the bridge crosses the Yakima River. 509- 933-1179 for info or questions.

February 7 ~ First Saturday Birdwalk, Irene Rinehart Park. The mid-point of winter sometimes offers a break from the chill, but the waterfowl know better and are sticking around for good views with the scope.  But robins and blackbirds think things are improving. March  7 ~ First Saturday Birdwalk, Irene Rinehart Park. Walk the park, look for signs of spring, or will winter have the last gasp?   Opportunities to see eagles, waterfowl, woodpeckers pairing up, chickadees singing, and a few green shoots emerging.  Parking lot by the river at 8 AM for a 3-hour stroll.
